Running Totals for 18 Jun 09
There really isn't too much on my mind today, just another typical Bagram day has come and gone. I am really enjoying the mild weather we are having here. I prepared myself for the worst before I arrived here and I totally expected it to be the 100's by now but we are in the low to mid 80's every day and the nights are pretty cool. I just hope this trend continues into July and August. My run today wasn't too great but I guess they all can't be wonderful. I think I am developing a shin splint on my right leg, at least that's what I think it is. I think me switching up my speed has thrown my body off like I planned but it doesn't feel to good at the moment. I am running at a slightly uncomfortable level and I hope that my body will adapt and not go on strike and protest the change. Anyways, I ran 6.5 miles, burned 1,259 calories, and I ran for 69 minutes. I hope everyone is doing good. Until next time...

I am glad you a shaking things up a little but sad you have shin splints. Take care of yourself. I am still a little tired but that is to be expected coming off the marathon. I don't think that running this soon has really hurt me that much, just the constant tired feeling. Wednesday I ran for 5 miles which took 66 minutes and burned 900 calories. I changed up a little and during my warm up walk raised the incline a little which helped me burn more calories. You take care love ya dad
It's good that you are recovering quicker after your marathons. I am sure you really appreciate that also. I figure I need to do something to keep my body guessing so the weight keeps coming off. Next week I will start my weight training like I planned on this past week. I think that will really help with the weight loss and give me some more muscle which is always nice to have. I hope to just run through the shin splints and hopefully they will go away like they normally do. If not then I will track down some stirafoam (I don't know how to spell that word!) cups and freeze me some water to rub those bad boys down. I hope everything is good with you and mom. I think of you two often. Take care. And I love and miss you both very much.
Love, Brandon
