Running Totals for 03 Aug 09
Well today was supposed to be my weigh in day but the scale at the gym is broke so I guess it will be a surprise the next time I get to weigh in. That should be interesting. Well today I also start Marathon training for the Naha Marathon in December so that should be fun. I think I am a little ahead of schedule with my training but I will pick it up somewhere in the fifth or sixth week once I get settled back in Okinawa. I think I am putting in a lot more miles than Hal Higdon's program says to in Weeks' 1-6 anyways. I am excited to get started training for my first marathon. It should be fun and hard at the same time. The course for the Naha Marathon looks really challenging. Plus you have to complete it within 6 hours because that is when they shut down the course. I definitely want to finish under that time. Today was my long run and I put in 15 miles, burned 2, 691 calories, and it took me 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete. I think a 10 minute mile pace is good for my first marathon. Anyways, happy running and I hope everyone has a good week. Until next time...

Sorry that the scales are broke. Just do what you have been doing until they are fixed and I am sure you will be pleased with the results. I have been meaning to tell you for some time now but I keep forgetting. I have been using Hammer Products the last while in my training and I really like them. Friends of mine Robert Judd and Jim Smith use them in there long distance cycling. I have researched there products and the science behind them makes sence to me. That is why I sent you the Hammer Gels instead of the GU. They have a complete line of products for just about any endurance sport there is. They also have a military discount, if your are stationed overseas you get a 40% discount and a 20% when your stationed in the states. Not bad. When you get home just join up at hammernutrition.com. When you do you need to us my name or number and you get a whole bunch of samples, like $20.00 worth. I stayed home from work today because I could not sleep last night. Later no in the day I started feeling pretty good so I ran. I got in 8.05 miles in 95 minutes and burned 1400 calories. I hope your day was good. love ya dad.
I've heard of Hammer products before but I have never been somewhere where I could get them. I look forward to trying them out. Thank you very much for sending that stuff to me. I will definitely have to sign up on their website when I get back to Oki. You can't beat 40% off being overseas! You got in a terrific run today. I am glad that you are feeling better than you did in the morning. Take care. Love, Brandon
