Running Totals for 23 May 09

Well normally this would have been my day off from running BUT since I am a slacker I already took that day earlier this week I had to make up for it today. During my run I watched another amazing basketball game that went down to the wire which was great because when the game was over I was finished running. I am so proud of Heather, she completed her first 5K today. Way to go baby!! I also told her that running on the treadmill isn't as stressful as running on the street. Plus she doesn't have to push the stroller while she runs, she has air conditioning, and she can watch TV while she runs. Those are just some of the perks from running on a treadmill. Now that she has tried it she believes me. I am proud that she is sticking with the running because I know she hates it deep down inside. BUT she wants to do it because she knows I love it and she loves me and it will be something we can do together for a very long time...I hope. LOL!!

Well my run today was pretty good. I ran at a quicker pace than I normally do (5.7 instead of 5.5) I got a little more mileage in also which I was happy about. My totals for today are as follows: I ran 6.11 miles, I burned 1230 calories, and I ran for 65 minutes. I thought that it was a good run since I ran 8 miles yesterday and I didn't expect to run that far today. I am working my way up so I can run around 6.0 or higher on the treadmill for my hour runs. I will get there I just need to be patient, it will come. Well I love and miss you all, until next time...

Ahh you are proud of me? I love you! And I don't hate running - at this point I just nothing it. I hope I can get where you are and love it!

That's really great Heather running her first 5k. We might get another running addict yet. Probably hard not being able to give it your full concentration with the kids being there. Glad your running is going so good. I will try and keep up with you starting tomorrow. I used Hal Higdon's training program for several marathons. That is the one I refer everyone to when they are just starting out, they are great. I have never taken off the time that they recommend you should after a marathon, just can't. They would say that my marathons are not quality, but I just don't care. I really don't like finishing them in 6 hours, but I like finishing them. I will probably run the one in Provo on June 13th. I find that the more I run long distance the easier it gets. I took Sun, Mon, Wed and Friday off. I ran today and it felt really good. I did 3.63 miles in 45 minutes and burned 415 calories. If I feel ok tomorrow I will run what you run. Grandpa had another episode today and Doc Armstrong gave him a shot to make him sleep. He wants to see him Tues. We will keep you informed. love ya dad

Well I might not be much of a running partner next week depending on how my knee is feeling tomorrow. I might have to cut my mileage way back next week to give my legs a rest. But we will see how it goes for my Monday run. I plan to lather on the Icy Hot for that run. Hopefully it will make it feel better and not bother me too much. Not too much to talk about on this end, just hoping to have another good week of running. I do hope that Heather can find enjoyment in running like we do even though every run is not great. Well I love you all. Take Care and we'll talk later. Brandon
