Tonight was a pretty quite night, with not a lot going on here at Bagram. It is nice working nights here because I can go work out during my duty time. I wouldn't have that convenience if I was working day shift. Hopefully I can stay on nights the entire time I am here which will probably happen. Today we had a Fallen Comrade ceremony. These ceremonies really drive the point home why it is so dangerous here. A Fallen Comrade ceremony is to honor those who have recently died in the line of duty. And today there were three who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The sad thing is I have participated in about 5 of these ceremonies since I have been here and I am sure that I will participate in some more before I come home. It is really a sobering experience for me and it really makes me feel for those families who have lost a loved one. I just thought I would share that with you all.
My run today was not a very good one. Not that my knee was bothering me, I was just tired. My legs felt like they have 50 lb. weights strapped to them and I felt like I was running in mud. I was not feeling it today BUT it is these types of days that I need to endure and struggle through it. That is the important thing is that I complete the day and finish the run or in today's case a run/walk. I felt good knowing that I finished the run even though I wanted to quit and call it a day. I would be happy walking for 60 minutes as long as I got out there and finished it. Today I ran 6.11 miles, burned 1230 calories and I ran for 70 minutes. The main thing to take away from today's run is that I finished it.
Heather told me that Bella is running a fever today, so I hope you get better soon Bella and I love and miss you, Mommy, and sissy very much. Until next time...

I know how you feel with those 50 lbs strapped to your feet. It is hard to get through those runs, but you did. I unplugged the computer and let it sit for 5 minutes, plugged it back in and it works just fine, go figure. I am sure it is hard to see your fellow comrades giving up there lives over there, this is why everyday we tell you thank you for what you are doing. You are a humble man and you think that you are pretty safe in the job you do, but we know it is a very dangerous place and that you need to take extra special care of yourself. Enough of that. I ran 5.40 miles in 60 minutes and burned 961 calories. I was a good run. I am having a hard time going much faster than 5 to 5.5 mph. It is painfull for me to run 6 mph for any length of time. I know that I will get there eventually. That used to be my regular running pace, just crazy. Last week I did lose 1 lb. and was quite surprised that I did. I have lost 8 lbs. since we started and that makes me happy. I ran Gunnison marathon at 235 lbs., Ogden at 230 lbs. and I should run Utah Valley on the 13th at 225 lbs. I am improving and that is good. you take care of yourself. love ya dad
Dear Son, I have read your blog and it makes me cry for the families that have lost their loved one. I know you are in war zone and I worry and pray for you every day. I am very proud of you and the job you do. I am proud of your running and what you are accomplishing there. I know you miss your family and they are brave being without you. I got a kick out of Heather's Sunday that didn't happen blog. She is a pretty talented writer. I love you Brandon and miss you so much. Be safe. Love ya, Mom
Hey Cousin. Reading about your running inspired me to do a longer run today than usual. I ran 5.25 in 50 minutes but only burned 701 calories. (According to the treadmill) Do you count your calories by the treadmill or one of those personal watch counter things? Take care....
