Running Totals for 19 May 09

My Internet is acting very funny so this probably won't be a very long post. Well I have been waiting for a run like today. The kind of run that you have to force yourself to do and even though you give it full effort you never fully get what you want out of that run. Today, that was my run. I remember having them in Kuwait. It is like stepping on a treadmill or hitting the pavement for the very first time. It's like you have never ran a mile in your life. That totally explains my run today. I wonder if it is because of the night I had at work. I have a lot of things on my mind from work last night and maybe that is pulling my attention away from my run today. Or maybe my body is telling me to slow down and take it easy every once in awhile (nah, that can't be it). I did make it over the 5 mile hump but it took a lot of brisk walking to get there today. Still I made it to my 5 mile goal for the day so I am pleased that I pushed myself to do that.

My running totals for today are as follows: I ran 5.21 miles, I burned 1076 calories, and I ran/walked for 60 minutes. It was my best workout but it was A workout and I stayed on track to running 6 days this week. I know that days like this come and go and it is probably my body trying to tell me something BUT like Heather always tells me, "You never listen to what I am saying!" I think this might be the case here, anyways, until next time...

Well, I know I will never be able to keep up with you, dad or Heather but I started walking yesterday. With my knee I didn't know how it would be but I wrapped it and walked on the treadmill for a 1/4 of a mile and it was too uncomfortable so I took it off and walked another 1/4 of a mile and it worked better. I am going to do the whole 1/2 without the wrap and see how it goes. At least it is a start. I am very proud of you and what you are doing. Be safe. I love and miss you tons. Mom

That is great that you got out and walked. Just take it easy if your knee doesn't feel the best. No reason for you to hurt yourself when you are just beginning to workout. But I think it is wonderful that you are putting in the effort. I really appreciate the support you guys give me while I am here. I truly wish we did live closer. Keep up the walking. It does the body good even though it doesn't feel like it while you are exercising. I love you both very much.

Love, Brandon
