Weigh In Day & Running Totals for 18 May 09

Well it is the start of another week of running and I hope to duplicate what I accomplished last week. I didn't push myself really hard today since yesterday was my "long" run day. I think I will continue to do this after my long run day so I give my body a break from the longer runs I will put in on Sunday. Well today was weigh in day and last week I weighed in at 274 lbs. and this week I weighed in at 267 lbs. That is a total of 15 lbs. so far. I haven't been subtracting the 2 lbs. for clothes either and I will continue to post what the scale actually says. I don't think that it will be a problem getting down into the 250's, then the real work will begin. I like that the gym here has two scales right next to each other. They have a bathroom digital type scale and then right next to it is a scale that you would find in a doctors office. That is nice because the one can confirm the other that way you get a more accurate reading of your weight. My hope is that I can beat what I accomplished in Kuwait in 06-07. I ran 500 miles while I was there and I lost 60 lbs. I think beating the miles won't be the problem and I think losing 60 lbs. while I am here will be. I have started earlier than I did in Kuwait so I have that going for me.

My running totals for today are as follows: I ran 5.71 miles today, burned 1179 calories, and I ran for 65 minutes. It was a good work out today and I hope the rest of the week goes as smooth. I hope your marathon went well Dad and that you had an enjoyable run. Mom I hope you had a good time as well. Let Grandpa know that I am thinking of him and I will keep him and Grandma in my prayers. I love you all and I hope you know that. Until next time...

Brandon, I am very proud of what you are doing. I enjoy reading your blog every day. It makes me feel like we talk every day. I was reading Heather's Blog and I really get a lot of enjoyment from them. I love your cookie jar that was suppose to be Heather's but you all can share. She looks beautiful in that black dress. She is a cute girl and a good Mom even if she has to share everything with her girls. Be safe. I love and miss you tons, Mom

You had a terrific week. 15 lbs. in 2 week is great. That is some pretty good mileage for your second week. I gave you my week totals already. I only lost 1 lb. this week for a total of 7 lbs. It shows that runnning every day works better than only one long run. I ate junk last week also. Today (Monday) I walked for 1.61 miles which took 30 minutes and burned 184 calories. Just trying to stay active and heal up at the same time. I took the day off work so I could do what I wanted today. I clean the front room, water the lawn and went up Manti Canyon for a wheeler ride. Only got up a little past burnt hill. Still alot of snow up there. I was a good day and I sure needed it after the marathon. Keep up the good work. I also wanted a Garmin 405 because I could use it on the bike. I has all the bells and whistles that I would ever want for running and biking. But $499.00 is alittle more than I can spend for now. you take care. love ya dad

Well hello mom and dad, I am pleased with my progress so far during this deployment. So far it has been like Kuwait where I will drop the first half of my weight without any problems. The second half will be the chore. I like that we can stay in touch through this blog and we can talk about how our workouts are going, along with other things. I am glad that you are still getting some workouts in Dad but I am sure that it isn't easy, dealing with the soreness from that marathon. I have found that Garmin 405 for $300 at a few different stores, but maybe it doesn't come with all the toys. Anyways, I hope you all are doing good. I love you both very much. Love, Brandon
