Running Totals for 17 May 09
Well I finally completed a full week of running! Not that I didn't try to talk myself out of my "long" Sunday run. On other days when I get off work I head right out, come back to my B-Hut, put on my running clothes, and head out to the gym. BUT for some reason on Sunday I lolly-gag around the work place talking and then when I actually get to the B-Hut I try to find every excuse to not go run. Well this time I sucked it up, got over my laziness, and went to run. Plus I always feel better after my run and I sleep a lot better also. Today I ran 7 miles, burned 1445 calories, and I ran for 78 minutes. It was a good run and I wanted to go farther but my body was telling me to stop and because I am still a fatty I listened and quit running. My totals for the week are 36.33 miles, I burned 7,528 calories, and I ran for a total of 5:52 minutes. I am pretty pleased with this week and I hope that I can keep it going. That is if my body will cooperate with all the running. Good luck Dad today on your Marathon. I hope everything goes well and that you enjoy the run. Until next time...

This will be a long post. I probably should just email you but what the heck. I finished the marathon!!!! I took me longer than the Gunnison Marathon, kind of crazy with the Ogden being so much easier. 6+ hours. I think that I am doing to much distance without the build up miles that are required for a quality marathon. I struggled from about the 1/2 marathon on to the finish. I was cramping in my calves, right groin, and my lower back from the half way point on. I 2006 I ran this race in 4:42 minutes, which I was ok with. It is a pretty easy marathon as far as marathons go. The good thing is I finished with Ivie. I don't know if he will ever do another one. For me this is number 27. I am kind of struggling with turning 60 this year. I guess I am trying to prove something to myself. I do need to get the weight off, the bottoms of my feet were really sore. I will weigh tomorrow with you and see what I have lost. I ran for one day this week for a total of 26.2 miles which took 6 hours and burned about 6000 calories. I am sore today, but tomorrow will be worse. I am resting today. Tomorrow I will walk on the treadmill and see if I can get some of lactic acid and free radicals out of my body. You keep up the good work and I will try and resume running with you later in the week. love ya dad
I am glad to hear that you finished the race. You need to take it easy and get the soreness out of you and start up slowly again. I can't believe you have ran 27 marathons! That is quite the accomplishment. For only 1 run this week that is still some good numbers. I hope that you can walk tomorrow. Take it easy and I will talk to you again soon.
Love, Brandon
