Totals for 24 Nov 2010
Well another day in the books and I feel pretty good today. That's not to say that in the middle of my run I didn't want to quit and go home, but I didn't. I guess I am not even close to where I want to be cardio wise. I can't wait until I can run for the whole hour and feel like I want to keep going. I will get there eventually I just need to be patient. I am off to a good start. I got in 6.3 miles tonight. The next few days will be the challenging part because I am off and I need to motivate myself to get out the door and hit the street. I weighed in at 277.0 lbs. this morning so I am headed in the right direction. Until next time...

Totals for 23 Nov 2010
So I decided I was going to try something a little different this week. I am going to track my weight every day and see if that helps me watch what I am eating. I guess we will see how it works out. I weighed in this morning at 277.8 lbs. If it helps out I might make this a daily habit. It makes more sense to weigh every day so you can see if you are gaining or losing weight. I ran 6.3 miles today and it was a pretty good run. I just need to keep it going through out the week. The gym will be closed Wednesday night @ 2200 hrs. through Thanksgiving @ 2200 hrs. So it looks like Thanksgiving morning I will have to get my mileage out on the road. It's starting out to be a good week, but it's up to me to keep it going. JUST RUN. Until next time...

Totals for 22 Nov 2010
Well I was a slacker last week and only got in 3 days of running which isn't good. Plus my eating habits fell off when I wasn't working out. I wonder if the two have something to do with each other. Hhmmm.... Well I am out to do better this week. I got in 9 totals miles today. Three miles at PT this morning and 6 miles tonight after work. I am pretty sure I burned over a thousand calories. I weighed in at 280.6 lbs this morning which is disappointing because I gained a half pound. I WILL do better this week, my health depends on it. Until next time...

Well another rough run in the books. At least I got out there and did the run even though I truly didn't want to do a long run. I know it's going to be a tough first month but I will persevere and get back to where I want to be. Tonight I ran 6.27 miles and burned over a thousand calories. Well with my new job it doesn't seem that I have the time that I thought I would have. So with that said I think I have to give up my hour of lifting and just stick to my running. I would much rather run than lift if I had to choose between the two. I think I will always enjoy running much more than sitting in the gym lifting weights. I will start doing push-ups and sit-up in the morning when I wake up and before I go to bed. Plus I still have 3 days of PT that I do with the flight and we do strength training at each on of those sessions. Tonight I got in 6.3 miles and I burned over 1,000 calories. It was rough but it always is when starting over. Until next time...

Well it was a late day at work today so no work out after work. I did get in 3 miles at PT this morning so at least it was something. I weighed in at 280 lbs. this morning so at least I lost 2.6 lbs this week. I hope to do better this week but as long as I'm losing weight that is the goal. Until next time...

Totals for 12 Nov 2010
Well today was my first day back to work and it seemed a little off because I've been on leave for a month, plus it is a new job. Monday I hope to get into the swing of things and really get going with my new job. I really didn't feel like lifting tonight so I stuck to running. I think if I get in 3 days a week of lifting that is good enough right now. I will mainly focus on my running with a mix of strength training. I need to get my base mileage back up and some weight off before I can really push myself. I got in 5.01 miles tonight. After tonight's workout I realize that this is going to be a long road. I just need to be patient and consistent. Until next time...

Happy Veteran's Day
Well it was a nice final day off to end my leave. Now it's back to the grind for a day and then I get the weekend off. That is pretty nice. I didn't work out on Wednesday (10 Nov 2o1o) because I was pretty sore but I did get in a pretty good workout tonight. Starter weeks are always rough but I need to stick with it and get through it. It will get easier the more that I work out, that much I do know. So with that said I got in 5 miles total today and I lifted weights for an hour. We went to the grocery store today before I went to the gym and bought a ton of fruits and vegetables to start FIT FOR LIFE. It should be interesting to see how that goes. It will overhaul how we have been eating as a family and should do us all a ton of good. It will be difficult to change my eating habits but it will be nice once it is accomplished. Totals 09 Nov 2010
Well day 2 is under my belt and I am kinda sore today. I have been taking it easy with the weight lifting so I can still walk around. I think with the running and the weight lifting, I will be sore regardless. I just need to work through it this week and hopefully by next week the soreness will start to go away. I got in 4.86 miles and I lifted for an hour. It's hard to start my new eating program right now because I am still on leave. It will take off next week when I get back to work and things get back to normal around here. Until next time...

282.6 lbs and disgusted
Well it seems that time again. I have reached that magical weight where it's time to lose it once again. I was going to post a before picture but I can't bring myself to do it. Maybe when I get to where I want to be then I will post the before/ after pics. I guess we will see. I think with this coming journey I will look for ways to make life changes so that this will be the very LAST time I will ever have to drop this weight. I think to myself on occasion that wouldn't it be nice to finally say, "I used to have a weight problem". I guess only time will tell. And once again it starts:
-30 minutes Cardio(intervals)
(I'm using the runner's weight lifting program from bodybuilding.com which I really like because I can still run and work into lifting weights.)
-Leg Presses
-Seated Calf Raises
-Chest Press
-Extensions
-Upright Rows
-Wide Grip Pulldowns
-Preacher Curls
-Tricep Dips
-Overhead Press
-Seated Crunches
*Front Bridge
-30 minutes Cardio (treadmill or track work)
This is the program that I am shooting for and it worked pretty well for me today. The first week of lifting is only 1x set; 20 reps. Not too bad as long as I don't over do it.
To go along with this is Fit for Life. I hope that applying those eating principles will help me change the biggest problem that I face which is my eating habits. Well here we go again and it's all up to me to fix this.
Before I close I got in 4.72 miles today and 45 minutes of lifting. I was going to post my exercises and weights but it seems to be missing from my iPhone. Oh well, maybe tomorrow it will be working smoother. Until next time...
