Well we've made it to the final week in Okinawa.  I've passed my PT test and we have moved out of the house and we are now living in TLF.  A couple more thing to wrap up this week and we should be on our way back to the USA on Saturday.  We are really excited for this week to be over with so we can see family again.  I got in 5.7 miles tonight and it was muggy outside.  JUST RUN!!!

PT Test Jitters...

Just a quick post tonight.  I have the PT test jitters so I decided to kill those jitters with a 2nd run tonight.  It felt really good and I hope that it doesn't come back to bite me in the butt tomorrow.  I am looking for a PASS but a 90% would be amazing.  I guess we'll see tomorrow.  I got in 5.7 miles tonight which makes 11.48 miles for today.  Good stuff!  See ya on the flip side...

Day Before the Test...

Well we have finally arrived to PT Test Eve.  It's the day before the test and today I'm trying to expend as little energy as possible NOW that my run is in the books for the day.  It is also less than two weeks before we leave Okinawa.  Time is getting short and there is still a ton to do as far as out processing the base is concerned.  I will get that taken care of but it seems like a lot at the moment.  Fingers crossed that tomorrow goes well.  As long as the waist measurement is favorable, the rest of the test will take care of itself.  JUST PASS!!!

Down to the Wire...

Well today ends my running week and starts the dreaded PT test week.  Just one more day and then it's my PT test.  I think I've done enough to pass and I am looking forward to having it over with for a little while.  I want to be able to enjoy my time in Utah and not worry about taking another PT test in 120 days instead of 180 day or 1 year.  I wouldn't be able to enjoy the foods I've been away from for so long BUT then again maybe that's a good thing.  Anyways time will tell on Tuesday.  As for right now though, it's work, work, work.  I got in 5.67 miles today.  It will be soups and salads today and tomorrow.  Fun, fun!!

A Nice Run in the Rain...

I had a very nice run in the rain tonight.  So much so that I didn't need my headphones for my whole run.  I mean I was running in a torrential down pour BUT I truly enjoyed my run tonight.  I was soaked to the bone by the time I got home but it was worth it.  We got our main shipment out of the house on Friday.  I am glad that is done and we are getting ever closer to moving.  I have my PT test coming up on Tuesday and of course I am nervous about it.  I always am.  I hope my time in Korea will be a huge pay off and I'll never have to worry about my weight again.  I got in 5.84 "soaked" miles tonight.  Good times...

Shot M-4 Today...

Well today was my first time shooting the M-4.  It's pretty much the same as shooting the M-16 but lighter and smaller in size.  That was an all day class and we were in the new and improved weapons training class.  So that meant we were guinea pigs for the Security Forces.  We did a lot more movement training instead of shooting from prone (supported & unsupported), kneeling, and standing positions.  It was a good time except we were in full body armor while we were shooting.  So I was soaked by the end of the day.  And that's where my less than stellar run came into play.  I swear I was running against the wind the entire run!!!  My legs were jello after shooting today BUT I got my run in.  I got in 5.81 miles.  Until next time...

A Week Away!!!

I'm under a week away from the dreaded PT test.  I am doing everything in my power to make sure I pass this thing.  I hope by this time next week my life will be smooth sailing with my passed PT test under my belt and my Port Call notification in hand.  Life will be good if things go as planned.  We are getting so close to coming home that this move is starting to feel a little more real.  The housing office came by to do their pre-inspection and the moving company came by to estimate our shipment.  They come to pack our house out on Friday and then come again next Wednesday to ship my stuff to Korea.  We're almost there.  I got in 5.71 miles tonight.

500 Mile Challenge Complete...

Well, what I started back on 1 Nov 2011 is finally finished.  I completed my 500 mile challenge before 1 May 2012.  Now I am working on my 1,500 mile goal before 1 Jan 2013.  I would like to do 2,012 miles this year BUT I would be totally happy with 1,500.  First things first, getting past my PT test next Tuesday.  And then I can look forward to skinnier days ahead.  I ran 5.69 miles tonight.  JUST RUN!!!

No Rest for the Fatty...

Well since I will be taking Sunday and Monday off next week to rest before my PT test next Tuesday, I thought I would put in some miles tonight.  I will run through next Saturday and hopefully I will be under 250 lbs. for my PT test.  Only time will tell and I have my diet planned out until my PT test.  We went to the aquarium for the last time today.  It was a rainy day but we had to make it up there one last time.  I'm not sure we will have a car come next weekend so we needed to get that one last trip in.  It is really getting close to us leaving and it's starting to feel real now.  I hope to have a good week.  I got in 5.56 miles tonight.  JUST RUN!!!

Closer and Closer...

Well we are three weeks away from leaving Okinawa.  Time is moving right along and it is almost crunch time for almost everything left here to do here in Okinawa.  These next few weeks should fly right by.  We had a pretty good day today.  We are trying to sell Heather's car at the moment and have a couple people interested in it.  So we hope that that takes care of itself and we will be car free by the end of the week.  One of Heather's friends loaned us their car until we leave so we are psyched about that.  One less thing to worry about.  I got the rest of the deck ripped apart and moved to the curb today.  Yes, I am a procrastinator because I was supposed to do it yesterday.  So that made my run this evening extra special.  That and the sushi that we ate.  It was a slow and steady run tonight, but I got it in.  I ran 5.84 miles tonight and I'm looking forward to having a great week before my PT test on the 24th.  JUST RUN!!!

2nd Run in Less than 8 hours...

Well I had to do a little finagling with my running schedule.  I have to do some house work this afternoon and I wouldn't feel like getting in my run after working all day, then coming home and doing my house chores, and then go for a run.  I decided I would knock it out this morning which was a little tough because I haven't ran that close together in a while.  But I got it knocked out and now I can focus on what I have to do today.  I got in 5.87 miles this morning and my legs weren't happy about running two runs that close together.  Onward and upward...

A Good Run Tonight...

Well after the body shut down on my yesterday and all I wanted to do was sleep, it was good to go out tonight and get in a good run.  I think I over did it with breaking down our deck in record speed so the ninja house painters could set up the scaffolding around our house, dragging 30 cinder blocks to the curb so the garage ninjas can take them away, and then running 6 miles that night did me in.  Yesterday I couldn't keep my eyes open from the time I walked in the door.  I think I had a bout with my good ole friend Gilbert's.  Today I feel much better and rejuvenated.  I got in 5.54 miles tonight and I am looking to run in the morning tomorrow so I can drag the rest of the bigger half of the deck to the curb before bulk trash pick up on Saturday morning.  I don't think I would feel much like running after doing that tomorrow afternoon.  I need to keep focused because my PT test is right around the corner!!!  STAY FOCUSED!!!

Stupid is as Stupid Does...

Well for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to get McDonald's for dinner tonight.  Yes, I am that stupid.  Well to teach myself a lesson I headed out the door for my run and it was miserable to say the least.  I think I taught myself a pretty good lesson.  Stay away from the junk food ESPECIALLY two weeks before I test.  I seriously don't know what I was thinking.  Anyways, I got in 6.02 miserable miles.  Lesson learned...

The Long, Long Weekend...

It has been a good weekend.  We went to Shuri Castle for the last time and that place is always amazing.  I sold my Toyota Altezza, so that's one down with one car to go.  I ripped my deck apart so I can check that off of my list.  Plus they are finally getting around to painting our house so I won't have to pressure wash it when we leave, so that is a plus.  We went to the beach and walked around on the reef a little bit and seen some amazing marine life.  Bella, Evie, and I also saved a ton of red star fish that were stranded on the reef out of the water.  It was a great Okinawa weekend.  Only three of these left until we leave this place.  Today I got in 5.63 miles.  It was a so so run because I ripped that deck apart and toted 30 cinder blocks to the curb plus all that lumber.  My hands are sore now.  BUT I can't slack off these next two weeks.  My PT test is right around the corner and I NEED TO FOCUS!!!   Until next time...

Friday Night Run...

I didn't get a run in this morning because my Squadron Commander Lt. Col. Robert Henderson gave me the day off.  He was at my NCOA graduation last night (he was pretty hammered by the way, telling inappropriate stories, BUT what are you going to do, he's the Commander!  LoL) and told my boss that he was giving me the day off on Friday.  So there's no arguing with the Commander, especially when he wants to give me the day off!  So I had my TMO (housing) appointment this morning to get my shipping dates squared away for both Las Vegas and Korea.  So I am all set in that department (I hope), but you never know, what the military will pull out of its hat.  I will keep my fingers crossed.  I went into work for a little while but I'll deal with that head ache on Tuesday when I go back to work.

During my run tonight I was feeling pretty good so I picked up the pace a little bit.  It felt pretty good and the weather was a little cool but it felt great.  So no complaints from me tonight about my run.  Why does that seem like a first in a loooong time.  I got in 5.6 miles tonight and I am shooting for that elusive Saturday run tomorrow.  I need to stay consistent and strong through the 24th...  AND BEYOND!  I want 240 lbs to be my "fat" weight or my personal weight ceiling so to speak.  That is what I am working towards.  CONSISTENCY, CONSISTENCY, CONSISTENCY!!!

NCOA Graduation Day...

Well it's finally here and I am glad that it is over.  With that being said it is also one month before we leave Okinawa and I am more excited about that!  One month from today and we will be in back in the good ole' US of A.  We also go Heather's car all squared away, no pun intended.  She got a black 2011 Nissan Cube and she is very excited about that.  So that is one less thing I have to worry about now.  I'm glad too, because that was my BIGGEST worry going home.  Everything else is small potatoes.  Well it was a little warmer this morning but I got in my run.  As always, I'm a little sore from yesterday's mock PT test but I got through my run just fine.  I got in 5.98 miles.  For the next two weeks, starting on Monday,  I will go to "Fat Boy" class to give me a little extra as far as calorie burn/weight loss goes.  I am still hoping to be in the mid 240's by the 24th, at least that is the goal.  We will see what happens from now until then.  JUST RUN!!

Mock PT Test...

To end the NCOA we took a mock PT test to see where we are at.  We didn't do the waist measurement because the instructors are not certified to tape so we just focused on the 3 PT components.  I did 45 Push Ups (my weak spot), 52 Sit Ups, and 1.5 Mile Run in 11:40.  Now I didn't kill myself since I have my REAL test in 19 days but I am pretty satisfied with these numbers.  If my waist was 39", I would be just fine with scoring some where in the 80's.  I hope that I can mimic or better yet, blow these numbers out of the water on April 24th.  Well NCOA is all wrapped up and tomorrow is graduation day.  I am excited to have it completed so I can get on with the rest of my time at Kadena.  Until next time...

Back on the Road...

Well I hope that the "whatever I got" is passed me and I can start getting in those miles again.  I still have the cough and it was a little rough going this morning with the chilly air but I got through my run.  I need to get busy because I still got some weight to drop before my PT test on the 24th.  Plus I need to get in my 100 miles this month so I can stay on track with my yearly goal.  NCOA graduation tomorrow and I am ready to be finished with that.  Then comes the joy of out processing Kadena.  I look forward to the day that I am sitting in Manti and doing nothing!  I got in 5.79 miles this morning.  Until next time...
